| Consider a painting, not in 1000 words, but in a few | What is the artist thinking? |

Consider a painting, not in 1000 words, but in a few (continued) "In this painting I wanted to capture a day in July when I felt exceptionally carefree and joyful and everyone I passed on this walk by the Hudson river seemed to feel the same way. The air, the wind off the water, the light had everyone moving in a languid, happy daze. Children were playing in a fountain with all their clothes on and no adults were stopping them. The weather was so soft and beautiful it just put a spell on the whole town. I tried to make the painting playful and not too fettered to reality because there in those hours most everyone let go of their usual concerns and floated for a while." "I started Study In Yellow by toning the entire canvas yellow then adding various overlapping forms over the course of time. I was not aiming for any particular effect. Therefore to me it seems to have a less 'premeditated' look; one that's more organic in a symbolic kind of way. I didn't go back to any form to adjust it- I wanted to avoid over-thinking the idea and to just let it 'grow' out of my imagination." Comments from the November 2009 Exhibition:
